LAvish Events & Entertainment Presents:

"Spring Hip Hop 2012"

I am always into getting my hands into anything I want whether it be Art, Photography, or Music. I recently came in touch with an artist who goes by the name Izova The Khemist who works with a company called Lavish Events & Ent mostly based for the variety of talent in LA. As a team member of Lavish we strongly produce a platform in which we showcase all forms of Art, Musicians, Models, Artists, Dancers, etc.
I feel so lucky to be a part of a team that can be the very beginning of something that will flourish into something huge one day whether it be the company, and or the people we are working with.
Please make sure to check out our website, and all other networking sites.

For any artist bookings please contact lavshowcase@gmail.com

Thank You,
Rachel Flores

Funk Yeah! Event 12.21.2012

"Pictures from Funk Yeah! on 12/21, captured by @CupCakeMyHeart (Rachel Flores)! Amazing turnout thanks to everyone involved and those who came out to support the cause. All the toys we received at the door have already been turned in to the Children’s Hospital of LA!!! Funk Yeah! is about the music, themovement, the community and awareness. We’re all about spreading positivevibes and helping those who are less fortunate. Many of the artists featured are upcoming and talented artists from the Los Angeles area. SO if you’re with it, don’t miss out on the next event!"

Christmas Eve 12.24.2012

Christmas Eve was spent like any other one spent at my Grandma's house. A long 45 minute drive to San Dimas, walking into a house filled with the aroma of food, & my little cousins running around the house. It's my favorite holiday because the whole family is there. It's crazy to see how much my family has grown. It was another holiday well spent. Here are just a few pictures from our family event.
Yes, my cousin JC got engaged<3

First Hip Hop Event: Funk Yeah! 11.23.2011

Over the years social media has taken a HUGE leap. I remember when I first started using the internet, the cool thing was 'Xanga' it was a mini blog, where you could only post a profile picture. Then it was Tom, who created Myspace, which I was in high school at the time blew up to be a huge thing. As i graduated college you rarely heard about Facebook only because college students were allowed to have one. NOW, that has all changed. Social Media has changed the world & networking forever.

It was around the beginning of November when my friend Sammy Jo (@sammyjofox) hit me up & was like ' Hey my friend Renee needs a photographer for her event'. That right there caught me. Sammy connected me with Renee, and Renee and I networked.

This was an event I could not miss to be a part of, free, and to help the community of Los Angeles.
Here are som pictures from the event, an words from the Host Renee Oquel (@damelush )

"I can’t describe how grateful and blessed I feel at this very moment.

I’m majoring in Public Relations and Journalism once I transfer to a University and have found ways to be around what I love just by doing what I love. Eventually I want to start a non-profit organization to give back to this world and start a public relations/media firm.
I’ve been wanting to throw a small music event in L.A. for quite some time, but never really knew how it all came together, or even how I could pull it off—and since I’ve started LUYL, I’ve come in contact with a lot of talented, independent, creative individuals and artists who inspired me to put together this event. The timing couldn’t be any more perfect.
Social media networks make the world seem so small—one way or another we’re connected through someone or something. As I’ve said before, music is a constant universal love…we connect through the same vibrations, waves and words.

I just want to thank EVERYONE who came out to Kika Fulo for Funk Yeah!…
All together we raised over $200 at the door and walked away with sooo many cans to donate to the East L.A. Women’s Center! 100% of the proceeds went straight to the center! Each and every one of you that came out took part in creating awareness and restoring hope to these victims of domestic + sexual violence, rape, assault and HIV/AIDS—but most importantly, took part in making their voices heard again. The center is in the heart of East Los Angeles where many low-income Latino families reside. In December ELAWC will be having a canned food drive, so it was a blessing to help them get a head start!

I know Funk Yeah! was the day before Thanksgiving, but that was sort of the point in throwing this event. Funk Yeah! was about giving back, the art, unity, and of course THE MUSIC.
